A monograph on the German Dornier Do 17 and Do 215 bombers. The history of the development of individual variants, sub-variants and field modifications is discussed, with changes made to them. Export versions are also included. The plane designed to act as a bomber and reconnaissance machine was also used as a night fighter equipped with radar systems. Much of the monograph concerns the combat use of Dorniers in frontline units. The author presents the adoption of the first copies by the Luftwaffe in 1937, the use of the Do 17 in the Spanish Civil War and finally the participation of bomber and reconnaissance Dornier in campaigns in Poland and the West, in the Battle of Britain, in the Balkans and in Russia. It also briefly describes the Do 17 service as night fighters.
